Welina mai kakou me ke aloha!

Aloha!
I’m Keala from Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu, founder of Kou Nani. I created Kou Nani to give women a beautiful, simple way to adorn themselves with floral hair pieces—designed to be both effortless and affordable.

As a Hawaiian cultural practitioner of hula and a flight attendant with Hawaiian Airlines, I often saw my sisters looking for an easier way to put up their hair, add flowers, and get beautifully “duked” up.

Kou Nani — “your beauty” — blossomed from a deeply personal idea.

The thought of any woman from across the globe being able to simply step outside and pick flowers from her garden or on a hike, or repurpose a bouquet or arrangement, and easily create a floral hair clip gave me great joy and fulfillment. And with every clip she places in her hair, a feeling of confidence and beauty will fill her mind, body, and soul; and for that day, or two, she will carry a certain presence, as she shows the world her beauty.

Expression through Culture | Connection to Nature | Enhancement of Natural Beauty

So whether I can help the hula dancer who has an ‘auana performance and is pressed for time, or persuade a businesswoman to reconnect with nature, or provide that final touch for a bride on her special day, I hope the Kou Nani clip is the bud to her flowering beauty.

Uku liʻi ka pua, onaona i ka mauʻu - Tiny is the flower, yet it scents the grasses around it.

A Hawaiian proverb reminds us that even the smallest and most humble things can have a meaningful, positive impact on the world around them.

Me ka mahalo pumehana,

Keala
